Who are Elks?

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is one of the oldest and largest fraternal organizations in the country. We are also a leading charity donating over $15 million per year to Oregon communities. Elks Lodges are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up! We have members of all ages and backgrounds who come together to enjoy the social scene our organization offers as well as to serve their local communities through our charitable programs. So long as there are veterans, the Oregon Elks won’t forget them

Serving our nation's veterans is one of our organizations greatest honors. Our members volunteer thousands of hours to our veterans projects each year. From providing requested items for veterans in Oregon in VA run facilities to delivering move-in boxes to homeless veterans, Oregon Elks will never forget those who served this country. In addition to our nation's veterans, the Oregon Elks also honor our states first responders who serve our communities every day.

The Elks Youth Eye Service

The Elks Youth Eye Service (E.Y.E.S.) is the major charitable project of the Oregon State Elks Association. For more than 70 years the Oregon Elks have contributed to groundbreaking research and therapies in the field of pediatric ophthalmology. Thanks to the generosity of Oregon Elks, the Oregon Elks Children’s Eye Clinic stands as the first freestanding pediatric eye clinic in the nation. This brand new 60,000 square foot facility is home base for the clinic's team of world-renowned ophthalmologists. It includes an expanded Oregon Elks Children’s Eye Clinic, retinopathy of prematurity telemedicine, outreach programs, retina services, vision rehabilitation, the Paul H. Casey Ophthalmologic Genetics Floor, and a clinical trials center. The unique design is not merely aesthetic. The new clinic has earned multiple awards for its inspired and thoughtful design that accommodates all visual abilities.

Scholarships

The Oregon State Elks Association gives away nearly $70,000 in scholarship funding annually through the Most Valuable Student Scholarship. This is in addition to awards given by local lodges and the Elks National Foundation. We also have the Legacy Award Scholarship, the Emergency Education Grant, and the Oregon Elks Vocational Grant. The programs ensure that we are not only investing in our communities to help those in need but also investing in our future by ensuring that our most valuable students have access to the resources they need for their education.

“The Elks have been wonderful to work with. The ‘move in’ boxes that your organization provides have been more than amazing.”

— Mark B., Chairman Honoring Heroes
