The Oregon Elks Drug Awareness Program

The Elks Drug Awareness Program is the largest volunteer drug awareness program in the United States. The Elks believe that in order to ensure a bright future for our country, it is essential that our children be raised in a drug free environment.

Through our National Drug Awareness Program the Elks make available resources for parents and community members on the dangers of illegal drugs, we produce materials designed to educate kids and teens on the dangers of drug use, and we have several PSA’s that can be used in your local community.

But our program is not about just encouraging kids to say no. Education is at the heart of our program. We have developed resources that identify and tackle the underlying sources of substance abuse including stress and bullying.

The DAP Poster Contest

The Elks Drug Awareness Program also has a poster contest for kids in 3rd through 5th grade. Posters that advance to the national contest will be considered for inclusion in the Elks Drug Awareness Program Coloring Book as well as featured on the www.elkskidszone.org website.

Additional Student Resources

Kids and teens can also visit specially designed sites with information and resources just for them.  These pages contain numerous resources that kids and teens can use to educate themselves on the danger of drug abuse, how to identify risk factors, and more.

Community Resources

In Oregon we have several mobile resources that can be utilized at events or school functions in your community. These include our Drug Awareness Trailers as well as several pop-up tents. Our volunteers can set up the Elks Drug Awareness Trailer or tent at your community event such as the National Night Out, Community Health Fairs, or local sporting events. We can even bring specific resources to address concerns in your community on a range of topics including opioids, fentanyl, meth, and more. To inquire about having a trailer or tent at your event please fill out this form.
