Todd Lund has been selected as the Veteran Volunteer of the Year by the Oregon State Elks Association (OSEA). Rick Hanson, OSEA Veteran Service Chair made the announcement of this award at the 2019 OSEA Convention which was held April 25th-27thin Milwaukie, Oregon. Hanson will travel from his home town of Beaverton to Roseburg later this year to present the award to Lund in person during a regular Lodge meeting.
Lund is a Navy veteran, Past Exalted Ruler (PER) of the Roseburg Elks Lodge, the current Leading Knight and has been SW District Veterans Chairman for 6 years. As the Veterans Chairman he works closely with Traci Palmer, Voluntary Services Chief for the Veteran Administration (VA) to provide requested necessities needed by our veterans. Recently, Lund and Palmer went to the Roseburg Walmart to purchase new shirts and pants for men and shirts and baby supplies for women veterans for the VA’s clothes closet. Lund also coordinates monthly breakfasts and luncheons for various veteran groups throughout the District, traveling to Myrtle Creek, Florence and Coquille in support of our veterans.
“This is an honor that I am very proud to receive and thank Rick for recognizing my efforts and my Lodge members for helping me with my Veteran activities,” said Lund. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) have been committed to our veterans for decades.
Nationally, over 330 veteran facilities receive direct services from BPOE volunteers each and every month. The Elks pledge “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.”
